This session will focus on newer technologies including internet/intranet applications, wireless networking, data warehouses, computerized patient records (CPR)/electronic medical records (EMR), tele-health, artificial intelligence and biometrics, among others. Emphasis will be placed on those technologies that are attracting sufficient interest and investment, as well as newer technologies that have found general applicability and acceptance in industries outside of healthcare.

Jim Albert, is CIO and Director of Informatics at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT, and has served as CIO of Bristol Hospital in Bristol, CT, and VP and CIO for Masonicare in Wallingford, CT. He also owns a successful consulting practice advising clients in Electronic Medical Records, Health Information Exchange and Meaningful Use of Health Information Technology. He holds degrees from the University of Connecticut and American University in Washington, DC. He is a member and Past-President of several regional and national professional associations and serves on Boards of Directors for various social, religious, and educational institutions.
